2017 BV Strong Community Dinner
Buena Vista celebrated community on Monday, September 25 with the fourth annual BV Strong Community Dinner.
456 tables and 3,648 chairs lined East Main street. At 5:30 pm everyone sat down together for dinner, a heart warming mass of people who came together as one for a simple dinner. As the community gathered there was much laughter, many hugs and hellos, people pulling wagons, hauling coolers filled with potato and bean salad, carrying children, finding seats, meeting folks they don’t yet know and reuniting with old friends.
We joined in with our 17 tables filled with 136 people. The forecast had been for snow, then rain, then sun, then rain again. The day turned out to be partly sunny and windy, chilly but not wet so it was perfect. The high school students served pork and buns to each table and we passed the many many cold salads, cookies, brownies and cake.
When we in BV talk about what makes this community so great….we often describe this event with pride. Community isn’t something BV just talks about, it’s something we do.
